After School Activities Survey
Hellos NB Community! The PTSA is considering contracting with Flex Academy for the after school activities program for the 2015-2016 school year. Please help us gather information about your priorities and interests in an after school activities program, by completing this online survey. The survey is created by Flex. It is quick and easy and will take less than 5 minutes to complete. If we do contract with Flex, this will also help them create a program that best serves our community.
This survey will be active until June 12, but do not waste time...take it today!
8th Grade End of Year Activities:
Please mark your calendar for these end-of-year 8th grade activities.
Friday, June 5, from 7 to 9 p.m.: PTSA 8th Grade Dance. Admission as well as snacks and beverages are sponsored by the PTSA. Entertainment for the evening will include DJ Myra, a photo booth, and a slide show of memories of the students. Students will also receive a free T-shirt. The dance will be at NB, in the gym. Kids like to dress up a bit for this, but it is not a formal, and definitely not a “date” event/mini-prom—just a chance for the kids to celebrate together.
Please contribute to the slide show by sending up to five digital photos to firstname.lastname@example.org by May 20th. Special thanks to Sarai Flores and Mr. Green for organizing this slideshow.
Friday, June 12 from 8:15-9:00am: The annual 8th Grade PTSA Donuts and Juice Yearbook Signing Party. Bring yearbooks to school this day, along with favorite writing utensils. The event will be outside if weather permits.
Friday, June 12 from 12:50-2:40 pm: 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony. At this event, the NBMS eighth grade team will recognize students within various course-specific and grade-specific award categories. All parents are welcome to attend and help us celebrate this wonderful group of 8th graders. This is not a PTSA-sponsored event.
For information on any of these events, please contact 8th Grade Team Leader, Derrick_M_Greenor 8th Grade Dance Sponsor Megan_G_Kelley.
The NBPTSA Students vs. Staff Basketball Showdown
was a big success! Thank you to all our many parent and student volunteers that helped to make this a very fun and memorable evening!

PARENT VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES AND NBMS PTSA EVENTS CALENDER:
Care Cash Cashier Sign-up:
Thank you to those of you who have contributed gift cards or other small gifts to the NBMS Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Program (PBIS)---the Care Cash Program! We still need more contributions and would appreciate any support that you could give to the program!
Running the Care Cash cart during all three grades lunch period is a fun way and appreciated way to support the school! Please click this link and grab a slot if you are able to assist: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b054ca4ab238-care/17347661
There will be a PTSA Table at the Back to School Night on Thursday, so you can drop off any donations at the table on that night. Or, your child can drop off the gift or gift card in the main office, in an enveloped marked: PBIS., Attn: Mrs. Stacey Kopnitsy.
Thanks so much for your interest and support of this great program at NBMS!
Box Top Collection Drive:
Please remember to continue (or start!) clipping Box Tops squares off participating products. The final collection for this year is rapidly approaching (the deadline will be February 20th). We want to earn the school as much as we can! There is a tall box in the front lobby next to the office door where you can drop off the Box Tops. The money goes directly to NB and is used for items on the staff’s Wish List. This is a painless way to support the school. Last year your combined contributions brought the school $429 – every bit helps!
Please have your student drop them off on their way into school. For more information on Box Tops, visit http://www.boxtops4education.com/
Media Center Help Needed:
The NBMS Media Center could use your help! Know your alphabet? Always wanted to work with the Dewey Decimal System? The Media Center needs adult volunteers willing to shelve books and work on other library tasks. Two hours a week or every other week would be greatly appreciated. A library is a great place to be! Contact the Media Assistant, Terry Kennedy at Teresa_M_Kennedy@mcpsmd.org and thanks in advance!
